About North Texas Regional Airport

North Texas Regional Airport is built on the site of the former Perrin Air Force Base. Founded in 1941 as a training site for World War II pilots, the facility played key roles in our nation's defense until closure in 1971. During those 30 years, the long, wide runways accommodated a wide spectrum of aircraft, including BT-13s, AT-6s, T-28s, B-26s, T-33s, F-86s, F-102s and T-37s.
